Rugby is the
fastest growing sport in the Central Valley and one of the fastest
growing sports in the United States, for both boys and girls, and
there are several good reasons why. First and foremost: it is fun.
It offers players an opportunity to participate in a fast-paced,
dynamic and exciting athletic environment. All the players get to
run, pass, catch and kick the ball, tackle an opponent and then
support each other around a wide open pitch. Second: it is the
quintessential team sport, where everything on a rugby pitch is
based upon working together. Third: rugby is truly an international
sport, second only to soccer, with more than 100 countries worldwide
competing at all levels. And last, but not least: it is all about
camaraderie, not just among teammates, but with the competition as
well (after the match, of course). There is no other sport in the
world quite like rugby, and that is why it is so popular.
The Bullard
Rugby Club is the first high school rugby team to be established
in the central valley of California. The team competes in
the Fresno Rugby Conference which will be comprised of other
high school rugby teams from the San Joaquin Valley. The
club has expanded its teams from High School Boys to now include
Varsity and Junior Varsity Boys, High School Girls, Middle
School and Under 12’s. The team is operated by a dedicated
staff of volunteers which includes a USA Rugby certified
coaching staff.
